12. FALL / WINTER 25 COLLECTION
Elsa Gref, Fall/winter 2025, February 2024, Satin weave polyester, lace, leather, cotton blend.
LOOK 1
For this project, I created a dress for a fall/winter collection. I wanted to use a stretchy fabric to create something form fitting, whilst also including textural elements with the ruffles and lace. The neck piece is a choker illusion that connects to the dress at the back lace panel. The lace is also repeated on the bust trim and the sleeves.
After sketching and taking all the measurements, I made my patterns for all the pieces out of cotton muslin. For the fabrics, I chose a satin weave polyester that would be paired with poly-spandex stretch lace. I also included a polyester satin for the ruffle lining.
LOOK 2
This second look is composed of a belt skirt and a leather top. I had the idea of making a belt skirt that could be worn over pants or over another skirt. It is made from woven plaid fabric and box pleats. The front has a leather belt with brass grommets and a double buckle. The back is the regular waistband with pleats.
The top is a leather halter top with a keyhole cutout, zipper front-closure and grommet tie back. The pointed angle in the front reaches an inverted point in the back.
The belt skirt and top were styled with stretch lace pants and leather cuffs.
Initially, the leather top was going to be a waistcoat style lace-up top. However, after drafting my pattern and creating the prototype out of denim, I realized the silhouette wasn't interesting enough and didn't fit the look. I then drew up the final leather top design.
LOOK 3
For this third monochromatic look, I wanted to make the garments interesting through texture rather than colour. This look is made from repurposed cotton blend fabrics. It features a lace up corset style top and an asymmetrical skirt with ruching and side ties.

COLLECTION MOODBOARD
For this collection, I wanted to utilize warm fall colours such as red, burgundy and black. I also wanted to use a vastly different fabrics to create interesting textures. I chose fabrics that are typically very hard to work with such as lace, patterns, and leather to give myself a challenge and to create different silhouettes and shapes.
I was inspired by the silhouettes and textures of the Spring 1999 Betsey Johnson RTW collection and the Fall 2011 RTW collection.
